La Herradura
La Herradura is located on the Tropical Coast in the Granada province in Andalusia, Spain. The sea-side town lies between the stylish Costa del Sol to the west and the province of Almeria to the east. Surrounded by rugged hills, which some winters are snow capped, La Herradura, meaning “horseshoe”, is exactly what the bay looks like.

La Herradura is located at about an hours drive from Granada and about 50 minutes to Malaga airport. Thanks to local regulation the village has avoided overbuilding and has maintained its’ quaint charm and small-town feel.
Area Activities
Golf – Access to golf courses from La Herradura is good. There are two golf courses located within a 15 minute drive from the town in addition to a great selection of courses in the area. With the new motorway, which opened during the summer of 2010, access to golf and the surrounding areas has become much quicker. What’s more, the construction of an 18-hole golf course has recently been approved right outside the village.
Diving and Snorkelling – The bay is a wonderful location for diving and snorkelling. Many diving schools from Seville, Madrid, Granada, and the surrounding areas come to La Herradura to dive.
Walking and Hiking – There are many different walks and hikes one can take both in the immediate area and in the hills and mountains beyond. Some hikes take you through orange groves or avocado farms and some will take you by scenic waterfalls – there is much to explore and plenty of choice for short or long walking adventures.
